I'm particularly Fond of non-fiction.  Not that I don't Appreciate a good story every Now and Again, but I love ->Self<-education, something I find I enjoy even more now that, in my Adulthood, it's Optional :)

Some of the Qualities which attract me to a book:

• The content is accessible
  
• Practical in its field (even if it's something I'd never do :)
• Illustrated to some degree
• Presents or synthesizes multiple viewpoints/possibilities/research directions
• Makes me think
• Demystifies a profession or a process by showing what it looks like from the inside
  
• Manages to shed light on topics outside the subject matter
  
• Ignorant people hate it :)
  

No single(1) Book could embody all of these, but many(n) of the books I Love cover Several(2-3) of them.
